If natural history is of interest, Orakei Korako is a must see

We have never experienced a natural, other-worldly experience as we did among the geo thermal pools, geysers, rainbow colored silica terraces, boiling pools and much more at Orakei Korako. It is amazing to see the earth as it was 8000 to 12000 years BCE. This place is a must and far removed from the touristy geothermal areas in Rotorua itself. The Maori have done a magnificent job preserving this fabulous piece of history and have left it in its completely natural, pristine original state except for the addition of a boardwalk. If natural history is of interest, Orakei Korako is a must see.
