Rotorua Residents Visit Orakei Korako
Been past the sign advertising this place many times but always going to or from somewhere. This time we made the effort to drive down from Rotorua. I have to say I'm glad we did. Once we had been delivered over the lake to the island around an hour and a half walk to do the loop. Took one heck of a lot of photos. The colours were amazing as with any thermal area. Taking the time to read each of the information boards is worth the effort to help understand what has caused what you are looking at. As NZers who have seen lots of geothernal areas we still very much enjoyed the walk. If you are visiting in summer in the mid afternoon make sure you take water across with you sa it is probably 3-4 degrees Centigrade warmer than on the shop side. When we arrived we had coffee and food prices were reasonable, when we returned for the island nice cold ice creams were also had.
