One the Best Geothermal Attractions

Somewhat off the beaten track, but well signposted, this is without doubt one the best geo-thermal attractions we have ever been to in the world. If you only visit one such phenomena in New Zealand, make it this one.

For a reasonable price, you get the works - a beautiful environment, a short boat ride across the lake, a complete experience of the incredible history of this place, a well-structured walk through a wide range of spectacular geological sights, a pleasant bush walk …a very worthwhile experience.

The organisers of Orakei Korako have been meticulous in their organisation. The boardwalks are well marked, good warnings of dangerous areas, steps are well maintained, particular features explained by clear signage in many languages and the bush walk features identification of specimen native flora.

There is good parking, a well-stocked café, clean toilets and cheerful staff. Overall this is an extremely worthwhile activity and I confidently recommend a visit.
