The More Individual Way To See A Geothermal Park

What a surprise! We thought we had already seen the best of geothermal sights in Rotorua but nevertheless decided to spend some time at Orakei Korako, too, on our way to Taupo. So glad we did! No tourist masses - free parking, a lovely café with a terrace (and hungry ducklings), a "free" boat ride to the other side of the river where the geothermal track starts... It was so peaceful and in between occasional encounters with other visitors we had the feeling to have it all to ourselves - the terraces, the pools, the geyser. We enjoyed it much more than the hullabaloo at Waiotapu.
