Beautiful Spot, Well Worth a Visit
This was my first visit to a geothermal park and for me it was fantastic.
On arrival it was pleasing to see that there were no coach parties and the experience from that point on was totally relaxed and quiet.
For me the experience is bettered by the fact that there are no crowds and you are at your leisure to walk and observe, this was how it was and we loved it.
The visitors centre is welcoming as were the staff and the short ferry ride drops you right at the point where the heated springs hit the lake.
There are substantial pathways that lead you around the park, hot springs, steaming plant life (or so it seems) on both sides in places. There are plenty of locations for photo opportunities all around the route.
I was more than satisfied with what I saw (and smelt) today and don’t feel that I need to see a bigger park with bigger mud pools or bigger steaming streams of water or bigger bubbling holes of crystal clear hot water.
I got the idea and experienced for the first time a geothermal park. It is off the beaten track but is idyllic in its surroundings and offers a wonderful glimpse of such a phenomenon.
$78, £20 each was a fair price considering we paid the same for the Roman Baths in Bath!
The walk took about 1 hour but I could see it taking slower walkers or those with an eye for that stunning photo another 30 minutes or so. There were no difficult climbs and was suitable for children. It was a warm day, intensified in places so I’d suggest you have a bottle of water with you.
I would recommend this park to you, as it was to me.
